Facebook Terminology

There seems to be a lot of confusion on Facebook Terminology. Hope this clears some of the confusion up:

TIMELINE: is PERSONAL. Everyone has one. And you cannot have groups and/or pages without one. It shows all of your activity on Facebook: status updates, photos, comments, pages you follow and more. Timelines are not meant for business.

PAGE: is a profile for brands, businesses, celebrities, and more. You can like a page to be kept up to date on what they’re doing. This is what you should be using for your business (or should be, anyway). You can have more than one PAGE, but only one TIMELINE or PERSONAL PROFILE. Pages do show up in searches, which is to your advantage from a marketing standpoint. Pages are public and that cannot be changed since they are geared for business.

GROUP: is where you join or can invite people to if you create your own. They can be PUBLIC, CLOSED, or SECRET. Again, you can have more than one. From a marketing standpoint, they do not show up in searches, so it doesn't help your ranking in them. Groups are really useful for your teams, employees since you can upload files, where you can't with pages or timelines.
